Bill overview
The ASPIRE Act aims to improve the situation for asylum seekers and migrants in the United States by streamlining access to employment and providing support services. It reduces the time it takes for asylum applicants to receive employment authorization to 30 days after filing their application, and extends the validity of that authorization until a final denial of their case. The bill also provides significant funding to both U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to help manage the asylum backlog and to Department of Homeland Security for supporting migrants with essential services like shelter and food.
