The Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act of 2023 aims to improve the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) ability to track firearms and combat gun violence. It requires the ATF’s National Tracing Center to create and maintain an electronic, searchable database of records related to firearm transactions, including importation, production, sales, and other dispositions.
