Bill overview
This bill, the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act of 2023, aims to expand Medicare coverage for audiology services. It allows qualified audiologists to provide diagnostic and treatment services that are currently covered when provided by a physician, regardless of a referral or supervision requirement. The bill also establishes a payment rate of 80% for these audiology services and includes audiologists as practitioners in Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). These changes will take effect on January 1, 2025.
