Bill overview
The Dignity for Aborted Children Act would require abortion providers to obtain informed consent from patients regarding the disposal of fetal tissue after an abortion. Patients can choose to retain the tissue and transfer it to a designated entity for interment or cremation, or they can release it to the provider, who must then ensure it is disposed of within seven days in accordance with state law. The bill also establishes reporting requirements for providers and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and includes penalties for non-compliance and protects patients from prosecution for refusing to allow the provider to dispose of the tissue.
