Bill overview
This bill, the Uyghur Human Rights Sanctions Review Act, requires the Treasury Secretary to determine if specific Chinese technology companies are responsible for or complicit in serious human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other Muslim ethnic groups in China, or if they meet criteria for sanctions under existing U.S. laws and executive orders. If a company is found to meet these criteria, it will be added to the list of designated nationals and blocked persons, preventing it from accessing the U.S. financial system. The bill also mandates a report to Congress detailing these findings.
