Bill overview
The Mobility Aids On Board Improve Lives and Empower All Act, or the MOBILE Act, aims to improve the experience of passengers with wheelchairs when flying. It requires the Department of Transportation to create regulations ensuring airlines publish aircraft cargo hold dimensions and offer refunds to passengers whose wheelchairs won't fit. The bill also directs the DOT to study wheelchair mishandling data and develop a roadmap for researching in-cabin wheelchair restraint systems, and to assess the feasibility of allowing passengers to use their wheelchairs in the main cabin during flights.
