Bill overview
The New Markets for State-Inspected Meat and Poultry Act of 2023 would allow meat and poultry products inspected by state programs to be sold across state lines. This bill amends the Federal Meat and Poultry Inspection Acts to permit interstate commerce for these products, provided states meet certain requirements and state laws don’t prohibit their movement. It also establishes a process for the Secretary of Agriculture to designate states that meet these requirements and enforce federal regulations related to these products.
