Bill overview
The SERVE Act changes how colleges and universities handle readmission for student-servicemembers. Currently, servicemembers returning from active duty for less than 30 days faced hurdles in regaining their previous academic status. This bill removes the 30-day minimum service requirement, allowing these servicemembers to be readmitted to their educational programs without penalty. It clarifies the definition of ‘service in the uniformed services’ to encompass a broader range of military service activities.
