The DEI Pay Cap Act of 2023 restricts the positions within the Department of Defense that individuals with ranks higher than E-5 or GS-5 can hold related to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The bill limits these employees to developing policies, leading DEI groups, and creating training programs. Current employees currently in those roles with higher ranks will be required to be reassigned within 180 days of the bill’s enactment. This legislation aims to limit the number of high-ranking personnel involved in DEI work.
