This bill, the Helping to Encourage Real Opportunities (HERO) for Youth Act of 2023, modifies the work opportunity tax credit to better support young people entering the workforce. Specifically, it expands the credit to include year-round employment for youth attending secondary school, increases the amount of the credit, and creates a new category of ‘disconnected youth’ – including those who haven’t attended school or been employed recently – who are also eligible for the credit.
