Bill overview
The FARM Act, officially the Foreign Adversary Risk Management Act, aims to protect the U.S. agriculture industry from foreign influence. It places the Secretary of Agriculture on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States and requires this committee to review investments that could lead to foreign control of American agricultural businesses. The bill also expands the definition of ‘critical infrastructure’ and ‘critical technologies’ to include agricultural systems and supply chains, and mandates reports on foreign investment in the sector to assess potential threats to food security.
