Bill overview
The ROOMIE Act requires federal agencies to mandate that at least 80% of their employees work in person, Monday through Friday, and to occupy at least 60% of the usable square footage of their office space. The bill is driven by concerns about underutilized federal buildings, potential health risks associated with empty spaces, and inefficiencies in federal property management. Agencies that cannot meet these occupancy requirements must develop and submit an occupancy plan to the Administrator and Congress.
