Bill overview
This bill authorizes the Secretary of Health and Human Services to collect fees from members of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) for each transplant candidate they list. These fees will be used to support the operation of the OPTN and will be subject to transparency requirements, including public posting of collection amounts and how the funds are used. The bill also includes provisions for encouraging electronic health record integration and establishing a dashboard to track transplant statistics, with a sunset provision after five years.
