Bill overview
This bill would restrict visas for individuals who are members of the Chinese Communist Party or are related to such members. Specifically, it would make it ineligible for F or J visas for members of the CCP and their family. An exception exists for individuals needed to fulfill obligations under the United Nations Headquarters Agreement, and the President can waive the restriction if it’s deemed to be in the national security interest of the United States. The goal of this legislation is to protect U.S. higher education institutions and students from potential influence by the Chinese government.
