Bill overview
The Keeping Military Families Together Act of 2024 permanently extends benefits for burial and memorial markers for spouses and dependent children of veterans and active duty service members. Currently, these benefits were set to expire, but this bill ensures that the VA will continue to provide memorial headstones and markers upon request, and allows burial in national cemeteries for eligible family members who were serving on active duty at the time of the veteran or service member’s death. This legislation aims to provide long-term support for military families facing the loss of a loved one.
