Bill overview
The American IP Defense and Enforcement Advancement Act (American IDEA Act) reauthorizes and updates the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008. It creates a new grant program to provide legal aid to small businesses, particularly those with annual revenues of $150,000 or less, to help them protect their intellectual property. The bill also directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct studies on how to better protect intellectual property from priority watch list countries and on diplomatic opportunities to support intellectual property enforcement in those countries.
