This resolution recognizes that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights and should be protected. It acknowledges the historical struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community, including the Stonewall Uprising and Gene Compton’s Cafeteria Uprising, and celebrates LGBTQIA+ Pride Month as an opportunity for education and reflection. The resolution also calls for continued efforts to ensure equality for all Americans regardless of sexual orientation, sex characteristics, or gender identity.
