Overview
This bill changes how funding is allocated to a regional rehabilitation and reentry center in New Jersey. Currently, the center could assess property taxes from residents in participating counties. The revised bill shifts the responsibility to have counties directly pay the center an assessment based on the average daily inmate population. The center’s chief financial officer will determine each county’s proportional share, which will then be included in the county’s annual budget, subject to state approval.
