Overview
This bill establishes a two-year pilot program in New Jersey that would give certain psychiatric facilities some flexibility in how they use their beds. Currently, using beds for a different type of patient would require approval and could change the facility’s license. This program would allow facilities to temporarily use existing beds as ‘closed acute’ beds without triggering these changes, streamlining patient care. The program’s effectiveness will be evaluated through regular reporting and a final report to the Governor and Legislature.
