Overview
This bill requires New Jersey school districts to suspend school employees, including tenured staff, without pay if they are accused of criminal offenses or unbecoming conduct involving a child. The employee will receive a written notice and 14 days to challenge the accusation. If the charges are dismissed, the employee is reinstated with full pay. However, a conviction results in permanent ineligibility for employment with any school board in the state. The bill also mandates annual reporting to the Commissioner of Education and allows for the withholding of state aid for non-compliance.
