Overview
This bill changes how certain motor vehicle-related taxes are distributed to New Jersey municipalities. Specifically, it allows a municipality with a population increase of over 15% between 2010 and 2020 (and a population of 200,000 or more) to collect and use revenues from a mass transit access parking tax and a parking penalty tax. It also expands the ability to collect a rental car tax, removing previous restrictions related to airport location and industrial zones. The bill is expected to increase revenue for Jersey City.
