This bill requires safety inspections for certain motor vehicles registered in New Jersey, including passenger automobiles and noncommercial trucks. The inspections will assess the vehicle’s equipment, such as horns, lights, seatbelts, and registration credentials, to ensure safe operation. Specifically, the bill expands the scope of inspections to include safety-related items beyond just emissions. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission has the authority to add further requirements to the inspection process.
