Overview
This bill creates a new category of state school funding to support school districts in New Jersey located within the Highlands or Pinelands preservation areas. To qualify, a school district must have experienced a decline in state aid compared to previous years, have over 500 residents, and be located in a municipality where at least 10% of the land is within those preservation areas. The additional funding would be calculated based on the number of acres within the preservation areas in the district’s municipality, with limits on the total amount provided based on student enrollment.
