Overview
This bill clarifies and expands the law regarding emergency parental delegation of care for children in New Jersey. It allows parents, custodians, or guardians to delegate care to another person through a power of attorney or, if no power of attorney exists, through an attorney attestation. The bill introduces a new method for delegation, enabling an attorney to designate a person to be delegated authority upon an ‘activating event’ such as the parent’s incapacitation or military service, providing flexibility and safeguarding children’s well-being in unforeseen circumstances.
