Overview
This bill changes the law regarding the amount of recycled plastic that must be used in certain plastic trash bags sold in New Jersey. It increases the minimum percentage of postconsumer recycled content required in thicker bags (1.00 mil or greater) and adjusts the timeline for meeting those requirements. Currently, bags of this thickness must contain at least 40% recycled content, but this bill lowers that requirement to 20% starting five years after the law’s effective date.
