Overview
This bill amends Pennsylvania law to allow boroughs and cities to levy additional taxes to support their local police departments. Specifically, boroughs can levy up to 30 mills for general purposes and an additional three mills for police, subject to a voter referendum. Cities can also levy up to three mills for police, also subject to a voter referendum. The bill adjusts the process for determining tax levies and requires a vote to increase the tax rate.
