IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
A BILL
To require an assessment of the environmental and public health effects of data centers, and for other purposes.
This Act may be cited as the Protecting Communities from Data Center Impacts Act of 2026
.
The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency shall seek to enter into an agreement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (referred to in this section as the National Academies
) under which the National Academies shall—
conduct an assessment of the impacts of data centers on the environment and public health, including with respect to—
noise pollution;
air pollution;
water consumption;
water supply;
carbon emissions; and
waste, including electronic waste;
develop recommendations to mitigate such impacts; and
