Bill overview
This bill establishes the Fort Ontario Holocaust Refugee Shelter National Historical Park in New York State. The park will preserve and interpret the history of the approximately 982 Jewish refugees who sought shelter at Fort Ontario from August 1944 to February 1946 during World War II. The park’s establishment is contingent upon the Secretary of the Interior acquiring sufficient land and will be administered in accordance with National Park Service laws and cooperative agreements with state and private entities to provide educational and interpretive services.
