Bill overview
The HSA Modernization Act amends the Internal Revenue Code to expand eligibility for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Specifically, it allows individuals without service-connected disabilities and those eligible for certain veteran benefits, as well as individuals receiving Medicare Part A benefits, to contribute to HSAs. The bill also increases the maximum contribution limits, clarifies the treatment of distributions for long-term care, and addresses issues related to bronze and catastrophic plans, as well as allowing both spouses to contribute to the same HSA.
