Bill overview
This bill, the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act, amends the Social Security Act to allow state Medicaid programs to establish health homes specifically designed to provide coordinated care for individuals with sickle cell disease. Starting January 1, 2026, states can create ‘sickle cell disease-focused’ health homes, ensuring they include dental and vision services. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will develop best practices for these health homes, and states will be required to report on the quality of care, access, and expenditures for those receiving services.
