Bill overview
This bill changes the rules for hydropower projects licensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. It allows licensees of existing hydropower projects, issued before March 2020, to request an extension of up to six years to begin construction. The extension can be granted in increments of up to three 2-year periods, starting from the expiration of the original construction deadline. The bill also addresses licenses that have already expired, allowing for reinstatement and the application of the extension from the expiration date.
