Bill overview
This bill allows the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to extend the deadlines for hydropower projects to begin construction. It enables licensees, upon request, to receive up to an additional six years beyond existing extensions, broken into no more than three periods of two years each. The extensions can begin when an existing extension expires, and in some cases, the bill allows for the reinstatement of expired licenses if they would have been renewed under current rules. This aims to provide more time for the completion of these projects.
