Bill overview
The Fairness in Veterans’ Education Act of 2025 aims to improve how the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) repays service members and veterans who paid to keep their Montgomery GI Bill benefits while also enrolling in the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Currently, the VA had to make repayments based on the last monthly housing stipend received under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. This bill removes that restriction, allowing the VA to repay contributions when a veteran’s eligibility for both GI Bills has ended, ensuring more veterans receive the full amount they are owed.
