Bill overview
This bill, the Indian Health Service Emergency Claims Parity Act, aims to improve how the Indian Health Service (IHS) handles emergency healthcare claims for Native Americans. It changes the notification requirement for emergency services received from outside the IHS, extending the timeframe to 15 days instead of the current shorter period. This change is intended to ensure the IHS is promptly informed of emergency care provided to eligible beneficiaries. The bill seeks to align emergency care coverage with similar standards for other patients.
