This bill, the Health Care Affordability Act of 2025, would make permanent changes to the premium tax credit available through health insurance exchanges. Specifically, it would eliminate the income limit that previously restricted eligibility, allowing more people with higher incomes to qualify for the credit. It would also permanently lower the percentages used to calculate the amount of the credit, increasing the amount of financial assistance provided to eligible individuals and families. These changes are based on temporary provisions enacted in the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Acts.
